I never set out to become a writer. I was actually an art major in college. My writing career started rather accidently, but I am glad that it did.

Here are ten amazing things that make me glad I have chosen the career path of professional writer.

You can write about anything.

You see immediate progress as the words spill onto the page.

You get to become your characters and live their fantastic lives.

You get to explore an unlimited variety of places from a fairy wood to a distant planet thousands of years from now.

You get to invite other people into your imaginary worlds.

SEVEN

You get to share things you have learned, researched, and cherished.

EIGHT

You get to entertain without having to perform on stage or to shout. (This is especially nice for introverts.)

NINE

You get to be part of the incredibly supportive community of writers.

TEN

You might even earn some money.

But don’t make this your goal.

Write because you love it first and foremost!
